5 Things That Annoy Cats

September 15, 2017

Is your kitty shy and quiet? Or do you have a bold, fearless feline? Just like people, cats all have their own unique purrsonalities. Some are cuddly and talkative, while others are more aloof. However, our feline friends do share some common opinions on certain things. In this article from Arapahoe Animal Hospital, your Boulder, CO vet clinic, serving Louisville and surrounding areas, a vet discusses Fluffy’s pet peeves.

Water

While there are a few kitties out there that love splashing and playing in sinks and tubs, most cats absolutely hate getting wet. There is a good reason for this: cat fur gives off a strong odor when wet, which in the wild may attract dangerous predators. (Then again, maybe Fluffy just knows she doesn’t look her best when she is soaked.)

Loud Noises

Have you ever dropped a pan in the kitchen when your kitty was close by? If so, your furball probably hightailed it for the door. Loud noises are definitely pretty high on the list of things our feline pals don’t like. Of course, it probably shouldn’t be much of a surprise that cats like their kingdoms nice and quiet. After all, napping is Fluffy’s favorite pastime!

Us

While proper veterinary care is definitely in our feline buddies’ best interests, most cats aren’t exactly thrilled about their veterinary appointments. (Car rides and strange places are also on the list of Fluffy’s pet peeves.) We understand this, and do everything we can to make appointments easy for our furry patients.

Improper Attention

Although kitties can be quite the little cuddlebugs, many of them are actually quite purrticular about just when and how they get petted. Some furballs want attention 24/7, while others preferred to be admired from a distance. Never force attention on a cat: just let Fluffy decide when she wants to snuggle.

Boredom

Although Fluffy does spend a ridiculous amount of time sleeping, she does need something to amuse herself with when she is actually awake. Make sure your kitty has lots of toys, and take time to play with her daily. A good window seat is another must. Your cute pet may also appreciate a kitty garden, or even a catio.
