New Year’s Resolutions for Lazy Cats

New Year’s Resolutions for Lazy Cats

Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe that 2019 is over already. Of course, we suspect that a lot of our feline patients slept through last night’s festivities. Actually, Fluffy will probably sleep through most of 2020. If your kitty could be bothered to make resolutions, what do you think her goals would be? In this article from Arapahoe Animal Hospital, your Boulder, CO vet, serving Louisville and surrounding areas, a local vet lists some resolutions for lazy cats.

Try New Sleeping Positions

Cats have a way of making us chuckle even when they are sound asleep. Fluffy can certainly fall asleep in some interesting places and positions! Your furball may try to master a few tricky sleeping positions, such as the Pretzel.

Spend More Time On The Humans’ Laps

There are many things to love about our feline pals, but one of the best things about them is the fact that they fit so purrfectly into our laps. It’s always great to relax with your furry buddy at the end of the day!

Distribute Fur More Evenly

Fluffy has a beautiful coat, and she’s very good about trying to share it with her humans. Your kitty may try to leave fur in some spots she didn’t get to very much in 2019.

Try New Napping Spots

If you pay attention, you may notice Fluffy moving from spot to spot for all of her naps. One week, she may spend a lot of time on the bed. Then, the next week, she’ll snooze in a chair or the back of your couch. Offer your furry friend plenty of comfy beds. It’s always nice to have options!

Play More

Our feline buddies are super frisky when they are little, but they slow down—sometimes way down—as they age. By the time Fluffy reaches her golden years, her play sessions may have been whittled down to a few pounces and a half-hearted attempt to swipe at a toy. Play with your cat regularly, using toys that you control. This may tempt her into staying at least a little more active.
