Fluffy’s Past Careers

June 15, 2022
Take Your Cat To Work Day is June 24th! This sounds like a silly idea, but there actually are some benefits to working with kitties. Cats are great for both stress reduction and comic relief. And as it turns out, they do have some fairly impressive qualifications. In this article from Arapahoe Animal Hospital, your Boulder, CO veterinary clinic, serving Louisville and surrounding areas, a local vet lists some of the key skills on Fluffy’s resume.

Hunter

If there’s one thing cats are known for, it’s their hunting ability. Granted, this will be more helpful on a farm than in an office, where Fluffy may be relegated to ‘hunting’ paper clips.

Spy

Believe it or not, there really have been some feline spies. In fact, the CIA actually tried to make cats function as portable recorders. Operation Acoustic Kitty turned out to be a huge flop, in large part because of Fluffy’s refusal to cooperate.

Comedian

Another one of Fluffy’s top skills? Her ability to make us laugh. Kitties are often unintentionally hilarious, which is why they’re just such fun pets. Your furry pal may be a great morale boost!

Therapist

Our feline friends offer us lots of comfort and love. There’s a lot to be said for being able to pet, pick up, or even just watch a cute purring kitty on a hectic day.

Guru

Have you ever noticed that cats often have a very smug expression, as if they have everything figured out? Fluffy isn’t exactly a guru, but she can be quite inspiring. After all, she’s a living, purring reminder of the importance of stretching, getting enough sleep, and eating well.

Tips

It’s fun to joke around about taking your kitty to work, but what if you could actually do it? The first thing to consider here is Fluffy herself. Many cats are complete homebodies! You also wouldn’t want to bring your furball into a large, busy office, or any place with a lot of doors and/or ways your pet could get lost. If you work near home in a small, quiet shop or office, and your boss doesn’t object, go for it! Just be sure your furball is fixed, microchipped, and wearing proper ID tags.
