Puparazzi Update: Local Dog News Highlights

November 15, 2022
Have you seen the national news story about the husky that figured out his bark could activate his owner’s motion lights, and had the time of his life playing with them? This feel-good story was super cute! Fido has also made some local news headlines in the last few months. A local vet goes over some stories you may have missed in this article from Arapahoe Animal Hospital, your Boulder, CO animal clinic, serving Louisville, CO and surrounding areas.

Hiking Mishap

Dogs can suffer from altitude sickness, just as people can, as a recent rescue in Grand County shows. Search and Rescue had to carry one sick pup down a trail after the pooch developed severe symptoms. The canine was loaded onto a harness and brought back down to lower elevation. This is a good reminder to pay close attention to Fido when hiking!

Happy Reunion

It’s always heartwarming to see a beloved lost dog reunited with their worried humans. This happened recently in Fremont County. A Golden Retriever named Farah had run off after a car accident, and hadn’t been seen since. Her family thought she was lost to them forever … until a drone exercise by local police accidentally found the frightened pup, who by then had been on her own for 81 days. Farah was reunited with her family, and it’s probably safe to say there was no shortage of dry eyes at that scene.

A Little Help From A Friend

Animal rescues and charities play an absolutely crucial role in helping our furry friends find loving homes. A local rescue just came perilously close to shutting its doors … during Adopt A Shelter Pet Month, no less. The Friend of Jack Rescue published an Instagram post announcing that they had only $56 in their account, and would be forced to shut down within weeks without donations. Locals rallied to help out, and got them through the crunch.

Glow Upvet

A local pooch won third place in the doggy equipment of a shelter dog makeover contest. After her glow-up, the pup, Luna, won $2,000 for National Mill Dog Rescue of Colorado Springs in the 11th annual Dirty Dogs Contest. Congratulations, Luna!
