Acupuncture

Could your pet benefit from natural pain relief?

At Arapahoe Animal Hospital, we strive to offer you as many options as possible to keep your loved one happy and healthy. That’s why we’re so pleased to include veterinary acupuncture as one of our alternative therapy services. Acupuncture is an excellent tool for helping companion animals enjoy more comfortable lives. Best of all, it’s all natural so there’s no risk of harmful side effects that pharmaceuticals can cause. Acupuncture can be particularly favorable for elderly pets or for those who cannot tolerate medication.

What is veterinary acupuncture?

The ancient practice of acupuncture operates under the theory that when the body’s natural energy source becomes disrupted, sickness and pain can occur. To address these ailments without the need for medication, acupuncture needles are inserted into specific points along the body. Once inserted, the needles cause a cellular response in the targeted area. This restores the body’s energy, thereby promoting healing and reducing pain.

What conditions can be treated through acupuncture?

Veterinary acupuncture can be used to treat a wide range of health problems in companion animals. It can also be used to boost the immune system and promote ongoing wellness. Some of the conditions commonly treated with acupuncture include, but are not limited to:

  • Arthritis
  • Back Pain
  • Joint Problems
  • Sprains and Strains
  • Hip Dysplasia
  • Respiratory Problems
  • Digestive Issues
  • Neurological Conditions
  • Senior Pet Health

How many treatments will my pet need?

The results of veterinary acupuncture can sometimes be seen after only a few sessions. Every animal is different, however. Knowing the specific condition, its severity and a number of other unique factors will help our doctors determine how many acupuncture treatments may be needed for optimal results. Once your loved one has been evaluated, we will provide you with an individualized treatment recommendation that is specific to your pet.

If your animal companion is struggling with pain, mobility, or balance issues, acupuncture may be an ideal solution. Call Arapahoe Animal Hospital today to learn more or to schedule an initial consultation.

Collette, our June Doggle of the Month, is an almost 17-year-old Toy Poodle who has been seeing Kim, our Laser Therapist, regularly for years for treatment of her left stifle (knee). • Ranger, our June Doggie Day Care Dog of the Month has been said to be wise beyond his years. This little pup is just 5 months old, but it often feels like he's going on 15. He loves to keep watch in the play yards, taking care of the other pups and organizing the playgroups. Arapahoe wouldn't be the same without this little Day Care Sheriff! 💙
