The holidays are approaching … and the temperatures are dropping. Weather can change fast at this time of year. While your feline friend does have a fur coat on, she’ll still feel the effects of frigid weather. A local veterinarian offers some great ways to keep Fluffy warm and purring in this article from Arapahoe Animal Hospital, your Boulder, CO vet clinic, serving Louisville and surrounding areas,

This one may not qualify as cute, but it is the most crucial. Keep Fluffy safe and sound indoors!
Brushing
Did you know that brushing Fluffy will help her stay warm? Dead fur, dust, and dander all make your pet’s coat less efficient at insulating her. Plus, you’ll find less cat hair all over, well, everything. This is also a great way to spend time with your kitty!
Playtime
A good workout will definitely warm Fluffy up. Play with your feline buddy daily. Use toys that you can control, such as a laser pointer or wand toy.
Kitty Tents
Cats love to snuggle up in warm, cozy spaces. Pet tents and condos are great for this! You can buy your furball one, but you can also make your own. Or, just put a soft blanket in a cardboard box turned on its side. That will make a pretty irresistible kitty enclosure!
Beds
Kitties definitely love their beauty rest! Fluffy will never get tired of finding new spots to curl up in! Make sure your furry friend has lots of warm, comfy beds. Fluffy may appreciate a thermal bed, which will help retain heat. You may want to put one of your furball’s beds near a heating vent. Your kitty will also appreciate having a napping spot that gets sun exposure. Put a soft blanket on an ottoman, and position it before a window that faces east. We’re willing to bet that you’ll find your pet sunbathing there in the morning.
Snuggles
Many cats love to snuggle up with their humans. Let your cat snooze on your lap if she likes. Your kitty may also enjoy cuddling up with you at night. (Fluffy may also enjoy taking up most of the bed or stealing your pillow, but that’s another topic.)
