Reasons To Be Thankful For Pets

November 15, 2021

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we’re seeing lots of reminders about the importance of gratitude. A vet lists some reasons to be thankful for pets in this article from Arapahoe Animal Hospital, your Boulder, CO vet, serving Louisville and surrounding areas.

Live Entertainment

Fido and Fluffy are highly entertaining, even when they’re trying to be serious. Kitties can be absolutely hilarious when they’re running after that elusive red dot or pouncing on a little catnip mouse. Dogs are also really funny, especially when they are feeling very happy or playful. Laughter is good for our souls, and pets certainly provide us with lots of it!

Unconditional Love

Pets form very special and deep bonds with their humans. Your animal companion isn’t concerned about where you work or what you wear. They just want to spend time with you! It isn’t uncommon for pets to outlast jobs, cars, relationships, and even some marriages. That unconditional love is a very special gift, and one we should really be thankful for.

Health Benefits

Did you know that Fluffy and Fido are good for your health? People with dogs tend to be slimmer than those who don’t have canine companions. There’s also some benefits to dealing with all that fur and dander, especially for kids. Studies have shown that children with pets tend to have fewer allergies and stronger immune systems than those who don’t have furry friends. Pets also provide kids with comfort and companionship, and make great playmates and cuddle buddies.

Comfort And Support

Pets turn our houses into homes, and just keep us smiling. Simply cuddling a purring cat or playing with a dog can really lift your spirits when things aren’t going well. It’s great to know that, no matter what, you’ll always have a friend in your corner rooting for you!

Buddies

Dogs and cats aren’t just fuzzy roommates: they‘re also our friends. Fido will always be thrilled to greet you when you come home. Fluffy can also be quite affectionate and cuddly.

Rewarding Experience

Rescued pets often help those who help them, both by providing unconditional love and sometimes by provoking a change in perspective. Caring for an animal can be a very enriching and rewarding experience!
